| Welcome to the Stapleton School Library! |
The Stapleton School library has a unique history: The parents of Stapleton School have always recognized the importance of a school library in their children's education. Parents of Stapleton students played a big part in the formation of the school library. About 25 years ago, Mrs. Judy Kostelecky, Mrs. Patsy Forehand, and Mrs. Alice Jackson got busy gathering donated books, processing the books for library usage, and converting the old caretaker's cottage for the first school library. Before long, the library needed more room, so they moved the books to the old cafeteria building. Parents continued to support the purchase of new library books for their children to read and volunteered their time to make sure the library was ready for student use. Mrs. Beverly Broadus was hired as the first library aide to help oversee the school's growing collection of new books. During Mrs. Linda Phillippi's tenure as principal, the school earned SACS Accreditation in order to hire a certified Library Media Specialist and gained a new wing that included a computer lab and spacious library. Under the leadership of our principal, Mrs. Charlotte Beasley, assistance of the Stapleton teachers, and ongoing parental involvement, the school library continues to be a place that encourages students to read and promotes opportunities for learning.
